Why is it that when you have multiple days off in the same city that the hotel is always the worst one of the tour? This has happened time and time again. This time it is happening in San Diego. The Seattle show was canceled and we have nothing to do till the 22nd, when the band will play on a boat for some invited guests, so we drove from Salt Lake City, Utah to San Diego where the boat show will take place. And now I am in a room whose smell makes me want to throw up.
Life is good.

Houston.
I think.
Tonight was the best sounding night of the tour so far. That is what I thought out front and my suspicions were confirmed when I talked with the band after the show. The amphitheater is on the small side with a capacity of only 15,000. The roof is a tent like structure but it sounded wonderfully. The subs were flown in between the 2 V-Dosc hangs. When everything is working this setup sounds the most co hesive. Today Craig(cure FOH)told me to go down to the pit and listen to my band. At first I was hesitant thinking that as soon as I leave something would go south. He then pointed out that both he and Tim(system tech)were there and that it would be OK. So I walked down to the pit and hung out for 30 seconds or so while the band was playing. It sounded great even that close. Everything was there and it was well balanced just like the rest of the venue. The bulk of the sound from the pit comes from the smaller DV-Dosc cabinets that are hung under the main V-Dosc hangs. There are also 3 DV-Dosc flown from the a center truss. These 3 boxes are aimed almost straight down at the pit. I was glad that it sounded so tight and conhesive even in the pit. Tickets are expensive these days and everybody should get the best sounding show possible. From the pit to the lawn seats. It was all there no matter where in the venue you were standing. They should all be this good.
